Triad Martial Arts - Ruston, LA
The original Triad Martial Arts location was founded in Cullman Alabama in 1996.
Since then, Triad has grown to 3 schools - 2 in Alabama and 1 in Louisiana.
Triad Martial Arts offers instruction to children and adults in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo and MMA.
The founder of Triad Martial Arts, Johnny Lee Smith, has also developed two programs for self-defense and law enforcement training.
The Equalizer, a program developed to teach safety and self-defense for women and SSGT (Strategic Self-Defense and Gunfighting Tactics), a training and certification program for law enforcement officers, adopted in the curriculum of many police, sheriff, and state law enforcement agencies.

Josh Lee is the owner and head instructor of the adults at Triad Martial Arts Academy of Ruston.
Josh received his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Daniel O’Brien.
He is a second degree black belt in Judo, and also a certified USA Judo instructor.
He is an SSGT and Equalizer Women’s Self Defense instructor under Johnny Lee Smith.
Josh Lee became a professional MMA fighter in 2009, and continues to step in the cage.
Makayla Lee is the head instructor of big kids class. Makayla is a blue belt in Brazilian
Jiu-Jitsu under Daniel O’Brien.
Hanna Heng is our head instructor
of little kids class.

I have been training martial arts since I was 6 years old
Attending Louisiana Tech University for mechanical engineering
Born and raised in West Monroe, Coach Hank Hamilton began training in Kickboxing in 2002 and Jiujitsu in 2003 while attending LSU. After compiling a 4-1 record in MMA during his amateur career, he turned his focus toward teaching others in Kickboxing for MMA in 2020.
When he's not training, Coach Hank enjoys video games, cooking, and hanging out with his dogs Ellie and Cleo and cats Buakaw and Bones.

They build relationships with my boys and teach them as if they are part of the school.
